3 Simple Tips To Stop Your Blind Spots From Blind-Siding You

Activate Your Prosperity Pathway (1)

What is a blind spot?

In the Oxford English dictionary, a blind spot is an area where your view is obstructed. Also, described as an area in which a person lacks understanding or impartiality. We all have them, which is fine until they start to impede your results, especially if you are running your own business.

I don’t know about you, but, while I love what I do, I don’t like working my butt off for limited return if I don’t have to. This is why I hire a coach and make sure nothing I can control (aka blind spot) is getting in my way. So many people think they can do everything themselves and of course they can; but what happens when it gets in the way of your business or personal results?

What happens if the resistance to getting support yourself is the very reason that your perfect clients aren’t hiring you or the reason you’re not making the money you deserve?

It doesn’t have to be this way…..

While getting the best support to help identify your blind spots will always be option number 1. Here are a few tips I can share with you as to how to spot a blind spot and what to do about it.

Tip # 1: Be discerning about what you say yes to in your business.

A client contacted me and was really upset that she wasn’t making enough money. She was convinced she was right on track with her message and product but was on the verge of quitting and going back to work. She had set her goal for 10 clients a week, and she attracted 10 new clients that couldn’t pay her enough but she took them anyway. She thought the universe was sending her a sign that she needed more practice.

So what was the blind spot?

It was the limiting belief that “If the universe sends you lemons, make lemonade”. My client thought this was the right thing to do and subscribed to the limiting belief.

What was the impact?: It shut down her financial income

What to do about it?

My client realized that she would never have a profitable business if she continued to accept non-paying clients. In fact, the way the law of attraction works – the more she says yes to non-paying clients, the more the universe will send her. She pooled the non-paying clients into a low-cost group program and created the space and the intention for new paying ones. Her results changed overnight.

Have a look at any unwanted results in your business you are accepting without question. What limited belief / “blind spot” are you ready to uncover? What result changes do you expect when you change it for one that supports your business instead?

Tip # 2: Don’t mistake stress for busy

Blind spot: Mistaking stress for busy.

It’s easy to do this and when you do, you create blind spots in your decision making that can impact your bottom line. In stress, your system is in fight or flight mode and yes you guessed it – you will make very different decisions from stress than you will make from your expertize.

How it can impact you: You often reduce your bottom line and you may see opportunities as a threat and not avail of them. Your brain, in stress, doesn’t see things the same as it does when composed. It physically can’t, stress and expert solution finding processes operate from different areas of the brain.

A client of mine was out of work for a couple of months. She was worried she wouldn’t get a job before her severance ran out. When she did get an offer, the money was too little. Her stress was driving her to take it anyway. I helped her get back in balance and get crystal clear on how much she did want to earn. She told the company what she wanted and a week later they offered her another job with the salary that rewarded her expertize and amply covered her bills.

What to do about it?

Know your signals that tell you’re stressed and how to reset your balance.

Tip # 3: Know Your natural work pace

My best example of this is my own. I worked in busy hospitals for over 15 years and was trained in the on-call service for a number of departments. When I tried to apply this work ethic to my business I set myself up to burnout. Does this sound familiar? Did you leave a busy work situation and do the same? I didn’t know that there was a way to work or run a business that wasn’t emergency driven.

You can imagine my relief when I found out this was not the case.

Blind spot: Thinking I had to work as if I was still in an emergency situation.

Impact:  I generated excessive pressure to meet self-made deadlines in a way that was unsustainable. Also, I forgot that I had a team in the workplace providing support and backup when I needed it.   I risked being burnt out and didn’t get the support I needed when running a business.

What to do about it?
